Stigmella is a genus of leaf mining moths, adults lay eggs on bramble leaves and the caterpillars then burrow into the leaf and eat it from the inside causing the mine. Species was found on bramble leaves in a local hedgerow. 25.02.13..

The majority of moths are caught and released straight away. A selection are kept for the purposes of identification, recording and photography, and are released soon after.
