Photographs of this species were taken at the former African Garden in Estover, Plymouth, Devon; once home to the NCCPG National Plant Collections of Crocosmia, Freesia (Anomatheca Group), Eucomis with Galtonia, Tulbaghia and Amaryllis.

Named after a Mr. Roy Cheek, who was a lecturer in horticulture at Cannington College, Somerset, UK.
